At Bare Instinct we’re proud to use innovative sustainable solutions for creating a beautiful leather look fabric, without the harmful effects on people and planet.
All our materials are vegan and cruelty-free, no animal or animal products were used in its manufacture.
While it may be hard to believe that paper can be as strong as leather, our main material is a top grade washable paper, an eco-friendly leather look material. It is extremely strong, durable and water-resistant too.
Made of natural cellulose fibres, the paper is bonded by a proprietary formula of latex (made of recycle polyester felts that allow for repeat washing and make it water-resistant).
The cellulose fibres that are used to make our bags, originate from cultivated breeding trees from northern Europe where deforestation is controlled.
The paperboards are carefully processed with mechanically washed and specific vegan tanning techniques to provide its typical wrinkled and distressed appearance.
Accredited by both the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) and Oeko-Tex to ensure the paper is responsibly sourced and produced. It is also recognised as a vegan-friendly material.
As paper is a renewable natural resource, it can be reused repeatedly and can be shipped to a paper mill and remade into new paper.
Our lining is made with hemp, a naturally organic material from the weed plant Cannabis Sativa. This weed grows easily without the need of much water and doesn’t need any herbicides, pesticides or fungicides.
It’s known as the most eco-friendly fabric that exists on our planet as it enriches its soil, saves water and produces 2-4 times more fibre per area than other sources.
Hemp is one of the most effective converters of carbon dioxide to oxygen - cleaning the air, improving the soil and helping to fight global warming.
Hemp fabric is recyclable and can be used for paper making3. It can also be allowed to degrade naturally, as it leaves no toxic residue.
